N Club Fall Social

Nearly 100 individuals left the fall 2014 N Club Social impressed and eager to embrace the upcoming Husker Baseball and Softball seasons. The event, exclusive for Husker letterwinners and guests, provided two distinguished Husker letterwinners the opportunity to provide insight into their respective programs and coaching philosophies.

After opening remarks from Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst, consensus All-America and 1st round overall pick of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft, Head Nebraska Baseball Coach Darin Erstad reiterated what all Nebraskans far and wide have come to realize….”There is no place like Nebraska!” Erstad praised the fan base, the alums, and the entire state for making a dramatic difference on his program. “The support Husker Baseball receives is insane. Our fans are incredible and this athletic department provides unmatched personal and academic support for our student-athletes,” exclaimed Erstad. The 14 year MLB veteran who earned a World Series ring with the Angels indicated the key to his coaching success and quality relationships with student-athletes is simple. “Consistency!” Added Erstad, "I learned this trait from Coach Osborne and relied upon it as a college and pro athlete and now as a Head Coach and mentor of young men.” After touring the alums through Haymarket Park and in the Husker Baseball locker room, Head Softball Coach Rhonda Revelle dazzled the audience. Revelle, who pitched for Nebraska from 1981-1983, has been the Head Coach for Husker Softball since 1993 and has won more games than any other coach in the history of Nebraska Athletics. A Hall of Fame Coach and the reigning Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year, Revelle credited the late veteran Senior Women’s Administrator, Dr. Barbara Hibner, as her career and life mentor. “She taught me perspective and that sports is much more than collecting W’s, it is about impacting lives,” stressed Revelle. Recognized as one of the most inspiring speakers throughout the state and intercollegiate athletics, Revelle took pride in showing off the first class facilities that has made Husker Softball among the nation’s elite.

Football letterwinner Frosty Anderson echoed the sentiments of all in attendance. “The facilities are great but the leadership, intensity, focus and passion of Coach Erstad and Coach Revelle was inspiring and makes me proud to be a Husker.

This spring, the N Club plans to host a special event at the new Husker Soccer and Tennis complex.
