Lincoln - Coach Bo Pelini and members of the Nebraska football team welcomed the media to Memorial Stadium on Monday to discuss this Saturday's Homecoming game with Illinois.
Kickoff between the Huskers (4-0) and the Fighting Illini (3-1) is set for 8 p.m., with live national television coverage provided by BTN. The game will be the Big Ten Conference opener for both schools. Last season, in their first meeting as Big Ten foes, the Huskers rolled to a 39-19 win over the Illini, as Heisman hopeful Ameer Abdullah rushed for a then-career high 225 yards.
Abdullah is coming off a 229-yard performance in Nebraska's win over Miami this past Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Abdullah carried a career-high 35 times and notched a pair of rushing touchdowns. He also hauled in a three-yard reception for a touchdown and returned four kickoffs for 81 yards to finish with a career-high 313 all-purpose yards against the 'Canes.
Abdullah, who owns three career 200-yard efforts, including 232 yards in NU's season-opening win over Florida Atlantic, met the press following Coach Bo Pelini's session with media members of Monday.
