NU Heads to Kansas City for Mizzou Invite

The Nebraska women's tennis team hits the road to play in the Mizzou Tennis Invite at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo. from Friday to Sunday Sept. 19-21. The ITA sanctioned event will be held at the Plaza Tennis Center and will host Missouri, Nebraska, Columbia, and Mississippi State.

The Huskers will take their whole squad to participate in the event. Four Huskers opened the fall season last weekend in Midland, Texas at the Racquet Club Invitational. Juniors Maggy Lehmicke and Mackenna Maddox, sophomore Lisa Andersson and redshirt freshman Spurti Shivalingaiah participated in both singles and doubles at Midland and look to carry that experience into the coming weekend. Fellow teammates Izabella Zgierska, Lauren Wagner, Mary Hanna, and Katerina Matysova will also be making their way to Kansas City to round out the Husker squad.

The Huskers will face several ITA pre-season ranked opponents this weekend. Mississippi State presents one ranked singles player in No. 42 junior Georgiana Patrasc and one doubles team in No. 53 Naomi Tran and Louise Ronaldoson. Columbia presents junior Kanika Vaidya ranked No. 85 in singles. Vaidya is paired up with teammate Rima Asatrian in doubles ranked No. 41. Sophomore Tina Jiang is ranked No. 102 in singles and pairs up with teammate Crystal Leung ranking No. 19 in doubles. Columbia is ranked No. 39.

Play begins Friday morning. Results from the matches will be posted here on Huskers.com concluding play.
