On history between Nebraska and Miami
“I personally don’t know a whole lot. I just know they met up for a championship game. I don’t notice a lot about the history, I just know there’s a big game coming up Saturday and we’re going to take this week of preparation seriously.”

On Randy Gregory’s return from injury
“That was huge. I felt the difference in passing situations. The quarterback didn’t have a lot of time to sit back there and just scan the field, so it made our jobs a lot easier.”

On excitement and adrenaline for a big game
“As a competitor you want to play against the best. Miami has some really good talent and it's going to be a good test for us Saturday. I want to see how we stand up against a big team like them.

On Miami’s running back
“So far from the film I’ve watched, he’s a very good player. He’s a hard runner, he’s a fast guy and we need to get off to a fast start because we don’t want to give him any confidence or daylight, because when he gets hot he’s pretty tough to stop.”

On Miami’s true-freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya
“This guy is a true freshman and he’s going to be in a hostile environment on Saturday so we want to show him some different looks and show him things he’s never seen before. Hopefully we can take advantage of the fact that he’s a young guy and never been in a situation like this."

On the hype surrounding this game
“Guys are excited about this game. It’s a big game and we want to get out there and play, but you can’t get too high. You have to take every day and use it as a day to prepare. We just need to play within the technique, the way the coaches tell us, and play hard and we will be happy with the results at the end.”

On teammate Byerson Cockrell
“For a guy to come in and learn as fast as he’s learned is rare within itself so he earned our trust. Like Josh (Mitchell) said, he goes out there and he doesn’t make mistakes. He picks up the defense and makes plays. If you make plays you’ll earn my trust real quick.”
