On Sunday’s practice
“We just broke down some film, made sure we got guys healthy and got our bodies back. It was a long trip flying back and forth but he (Bo Pelini) just let us know that this week we have to lock in mentally, take care of our bodies and be prepared and focused.”

On history between Nebraska and Miami
“Growing up I didn’t know too much about the rivalry. I just know that any time you see a “U” on that helmet, you take them serious. Miami is a great school, a great history, a great program and this (Nebraska) is a great school, great history and great program. When you get two teams like that together it’s going to be a slug fest.”

On Randy Gregory’s return from injury
"When you have an athlete that is as versatile as Randy Gregory you move him around. You don’t just put him in one place and let offenses scheme on him and double team him.”

On excitement and adrenaline for a big game
“When you’re a competitor you want to play in these big games. When you get a team like this, with guys with so much talent, your competitive juices come on. The lights are on, it’s a primetime game so you want to go out and play hard and put on a show.”

On importance of this win for the Big Ten Conference
“I think it’s huge. We need to get some wins in out-of-conference play and this is a game where we can do that. Speaking for the school, but not the entire conference, I just care about winning games here. I could really care less about what the rest of the Big Ten is doing, personally. As long as we’re out there winning games and having a fun time doing it, that’s really all I care about.”

On Miami’s tight ends and receivers
“They have speed. Those guys are fast and when you have a team that’s going to run the ball and then throw it as deep as they are you just have to get on your horse and make sure those hammy’s (hamstrings) are loose.”

On creating turnovers
“As long as we keep playing within our technique and keep doing what the coaches are telling us to do, the turnovers will come. I think if we start thinking about only creating turnovers we will get out of our technique and give up big plays and touchdowns. The turnovers will come when they come. You need to focus on the technique and doing things the right way.”

On Miami’s true freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya
“Just like Coop (Corey Cooper) said, hopefully we can take advantage of the fact that he’s a young guy, but I don’t put it past anybody to come out here and play a great game and give their best effort. So I’m expecting him to come out here and try to not play like a freshman. So for us we have to do some things defensively to make him play like a freshman but his coaches are prepping him to play well and it’s up to us to play well too.”

On teammate Byerson Cockrell
“I think he’s played exceptional. He’s (Cockrell) a baller. He’s been doing exactly what the coaches have been telling him to do at practice. He’s executing the techniques and the game plan. He does a great job and makes plays and that’s all you can ask for.”
