Huskers Take a Stand against Pediatric Brain Cancer

Saturday afternoon marked the annual pediatric brain cancer awareness game as the Huskers defeated McNeese State 31-24. Since 2011, Nebraska football has raised national awareness and significant funds to battle pediatric brain cancer through its chapter of uplifting athletes.

Today 130 special guests directly impacted by pediatric brain cancer sported the red, “Take a Stand” t-shirts to represent the 25 Nebraska families hoping to bring awareness to their cause. The families were recognized on the field before kickoff, while the kids were able to participate in the tunnel walk.

The Nebraska student section showed their support by hanging a banner across their section during the game. Additionally, at the end of halftime a check was presentation to the Uplifting Athletes national organization from the money raised at the 2014 Big Red Road Race.

The second Annual Uplifting Athletes Road Race held on July 21, raised $30,000 for pediatric brain cancer. With 700 participants they doubled the amount that was raised the previous year. Check out this video recap from the event.
