Nebraska vs. Florida Atlantic
Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Junior Defensive Lineman Brandin Bryant
On the disappointment in losing in his return to Nebraska
"It's disappointing as just any other loss, but there's a lot to learn from our film. Get better over the week and worry about next week."
On the excitement felt in his return to Nebraska
"It was exciting, it was fun. It was exciting seeing all of my family out there, you know just being back home."
On not being able to slow down Nebraska's running game
"I'll have to watch the film and talk about it as a unit and see what went wrong. Can't point any fingers right now. I don't even know what happened because I was on the field, I wasn't able to watch. We will figure all of that out tomorrow morning and get it corrected."
On any surprises Nebraska may have presented them with today
"They are who we thought they were. They did exactly what we saw last year with no surprises. Everything was black and white, we saw it all on the practice video. We just had some blown coverages and blown assignments."
Sophomore Defensive End Shalom Ogbonda
On the disappointment of their performance
"We came out strong and kept on battling throughout the whole game, and as I said it's just the little things we need to get right. Which we will get right."
On I-Back Ameer Abdullah
"I give him credit, he's a hell of an athlete. He's a hard worker. I wouldn't say it was tough to tackle him or anything like that. He was a good back."
On the lack of pressure applied to Nebraska's quarterbacks
"You know he did have some time to throw some deep balls. But as I said it's something that we can get right in practice."
Senior Wide Receiver Lucky Whitehead
On the success of the first drive compared to the rest of the game
"We were fast tempo, we had a good drive going. Everything was clicking, and I guess we just wasn't after the first drive...really clicking and stuff...it was mostly us, we weren't executing plays. We were dropping passes and we weren't playing FAU (Florida Atlantic) football."
On the offense's inability to back up the defense
"It was three and out after three and out, a few penalties hurt us, but it was kind of tough keeping our defense on the field as long as we did. We didn't really help them out, we are going to fix that."
