If you’re a fan of Nebraska Athletics and like to be informed and entertained at the same time, this was a good week for you. Huskers’ Sports Nightly (HSN) went from one end of the state to the other, featuring the likes of Shawn Eichorst, Tim Miles and Mark Manning on a Monday night in Scottsbluff to a Friday Night Lights closing act in Nebraska City featuring the voices of two stellar women's programs – Matt Coatney (basketball) and John Baylor (volleyball).
Give HSN’s 2014 Summer Road Show at least four stars in a five-star ratings system for three reasons – 1) the information shared was timely and relevant; 2) the coaches, analysts and special guests who spoke are subject matter experts; and 3) the wisdom shared often had a tongue-in-cheek bonus and especially so if you took the time to listen to Mike Babcock, the pre-eminent Nebraska football historian who did a masterful job of connecting Husker history with today’s talking points.
The three midweek shows were three-hour stops and featured Brenden Stai and Babcock in Broken Bow, Steve Taylor in Holdrege, and Darin Erstad and Rhonda Revelle in Grand Island, along with HSN's Matt Davison. Sports Nightly hosts Greg Sharpe, Lane Grindle and Ben McLaughlin helped keep all conversations on track, so if you want to get the full-meal deal of Nebraska Athletics for the summertime, check out any and every audio file.
