Nebraska at NCAA Zone D Diving Championships

The Nebraska divers travel to Minneapolis, Minn., on Monday, Mar. 10, for the 2014 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships held at the University of Minnesota's Aquatic Center. Minnesota is expecting approximately 90 divers from as many as 27 schools to take part in the three-day event that will qualify nine women and seven men for the NCAA Championships, held March 20-22 at the same location.
Kaitlan Walker, Payton Michaud, Nicole Schwery and Anna Filipcic will represent the Huskers at the meet. All four will compete in the one- and three-meter dives, but Walker and Schwery will also participate in the platform diving competition.
The Zone D Diving Meet begins at 11 a.m. on Monday with the women's three-meter diving competition. Tuesday will see the Huskers compete in the one-meter dive, also beginning at 11 a.m. The meet will conclude on Wednesday with the final event, the women's platform dive, once again starting at 11 a.m. Check back in to Huskers.com for updates.
Last Time at NCAA Zone D Diving: Husker Divers Conclude Competition at NCAA Zones (3/11/13)
The Nebraska divers concluded competition at the 2013 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on Wednesday. Three Husker individuals competed in three events over the three days at the University of Houston's CRWC Natatorium.
Amy Herman's score of 289.25 in the three-meter diving preliminaries earned her the only Husker spot in the finals. The senior from Lincoln, Neb., ended with a total score of 567.30 and finished in 16th place. Nicole Schwery (277.05) and Payton Michaud (261.80) placed 20th and 28th, respectively.

On day two of the NCAA Zone Diving Meet, all three Huskers competed in the one-meter diving competition. Freshman Nicole Schwery led the way, finishing in 19th with a score of 255.55. Amy Herman finished in 26th and Payton Michaud took 35th in the event.

The meet's final event, the platform diving competition, saw Amy Herman and Nicole Schwery finish 8th and 11th, respectively. All 12 participants in the event competed in the final round, which saw Schwery compile a score of 450.95 and Herman post a score of 485.55. The event concluded Herman's four-year career as a Husker.
