Indiana Head Coach Curt Miller
Opening Statement
"Well first off I'd like to send my prayers and concerns to Coach (Connie) Yori. It's scary to look down and see her laying on the ground. That's coming from a coach who had a stroke on the sideline two years ago. I understand the pressures and demands of college coaching, so I've been there and I pray that she is okay and I wish her well and look forward to seeing her back on the sideline because she is a class act. I thought we played a great first half and came in and executed a good game plan with a very young team. Not only mentally with the game plan, but physically, did a lot of really good things. That's back-to-back games now against Penn State and Nebraska, two nationally ranked teams and I thought our young team really competed. I thought the big difference in the second half was their effort to the glass and their second-chance points and second-chance opportunities. They were inspired. After their leader went down like that they went on a 26-11 run to end the game and you understand why. That emotion always goes on. The thing that's so tough about Nebraska is that they exploit every mistake and when you make a defensive-assignment mistake they have great players like (Jordan) Hooper and (Rachel) Theriot to step up and hurt you. It's tough to watch as a coach because you can see it happening. They took advantage of a lot more of our mistakes than we could take advantage of their mistakes. They were terrific in that last eight to ten minutes against us. Overall, with a very young team with four freshman on the floor for most of the night, I'm proud of our growth and I look forward to continuing to get better."
On if he saw Coach Connie Yori fall
"All I saw was I looked down and she was already on the ground. It looked like she was trying to get up but not being successful getting up and then they understandably kept her on the ground. I did not witness her falling."
On the warning signs of his stroke a few years ago
"You know I look back on it and still my stroke on January of 2012 and didn't know - I was probably dehydrated and we later learned. All you've heard from them is that Connie's felt dizzy most of the day and I did also. Us coaches have a way of getting dehydrated pretty easily. Unfortunately, I did not have any warning signs and was fortunate to not have any side effects myself."
