Nebraska vs. Iowa
Saturday, Nov. 29, 2013
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Redshirt Freshman Quarterback C.J. Beathard
On what kind of encouragement he got from the team coming into the game
"Right when I came in the first drive wasn't great; we went three-and-out the first drive. They were all just keeping me up and being really motivational and positive toward it. We just knew we were going to win the game."
On what starting quarterback Jake Rudock said when he left the game
"Well actually I didn't talk to him until 10 minutes later or actually a couple series after. He was really positive and said to 'go get them' and 'finish this game out.' I told him I will and that we've got it. I just told him 'we've got it.'"
On the 37-yard run late in the game
"It was a check that we had gone over in practice all week. If we didn't get a certain look then we wanted to check to this run play which better fit our scheme. It worked out for a big gain and almost a touchdown."
Junior Running Back Mark Weisman
On Iowa's run game success
"That's what we want. It's Big Ten football, you're going to have to grind it out. Nothing's going to come easy. It didn't today. Give Nebraska credit. Props to Jordan (Canzeri). That big run was huge spark for us. We got that fumble and his run. That's what we needed out there."
On the attitude in the huddle
"We wanted to be physical. We were playing physical out there, they were playing physical too. It's a Big Ten football game. We're glad we had some big plays and they stopped us on some big ones too. The offensive line, they're doing unbelievable. The whole year, they're unbelievable and they did it again today."
