Lincoln, Neb. - The Nebraska baseball team (3-7, 0-0 Big Ten) extended its winning streak to three games with a 10-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader with the Northern Colorado Bears on Wednesday afternoon at Hawks Field. The Huskers scored in each of the first four innings of the game, while NU's pitching staff posted a season-high 12 strikeouts on the day.
Kash Kalkowski and Corey Stringer each notched three hits, with Stringer driving in a career-high four runs on a pair of singles and a double. Austin Darby added his first homerun of the season with a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning.
Aaron Bummer picked up his first win of the season in his first career start, as the sophomore lefty struck out a career-high five batters in a career-high 3.0 innings of work. Zach Hirsch added six strikeouts in 4.0 innings of relief.
The Huskers took a 10-2 lead into the top of the ninth, where the Bears added three runs on three hits and two walks.
