A Message from Coach Krapfl

Chip-N Club Members,

It has been exciting to see the development and growth of our young players so far this fall. I think we've seen improvement throughout the first two months of the season. The biggest highlight this fall has been the play of junior Katelyn Wright and freshman Cassie Deeg.

Katelyn has always had great physical tools and it is showing on her scorecards this fall. She has been a steady and solid performer while leading the team in every tournament. She has four top-20 finishes, including a pair of top-five finishes in our last two tournaments. Katelyn was also named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Oct. 11.

Cassie has gotten her freshman season off to a great start. We had high expectations for her, and she is even better than we thought. She still has some shots to learn, so it will be exciting to watch her get even better as she grows as a player.

Redshirt freshmen Morgan Smejkal and Jackie O'Doherty have been in our lineup throughout the fall and are close to being ready to shoot scores around par on a consistent basis. Redshirt freshman Cassidy Stelzmiller and true freshman Hannah Luebke are continuing to push Morgan and Jackie for playing time, which is helping all of them improve on a daily basis. They are all going to keep getting better, and we are going to keep being patient and positive as they go through the ups and downs of college golf. Lasting improvement is done through baby steps instead of a triple jump.

Steffi Neisen has been pressing a bit on the course the past few tournaments, but we're confident her scores will come down as the season continues. Sometimes you have to take a step back to make a leap forward, and we think that is going to be the case with Steffi and our team.

We hope to have our best tournament to wrap up the fall at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio. Thanks to all of you for the great support you provide to our program.

Go Big Red!

Robin
