Idaho State Postgame Notes

* With a 73-7 win, Nebraska improved to 17-3 in regular-season non-conference games under Head Coach Bo Pelini and won for the 12th straight time in a non-league home game. Nebraska improved to 9-0 against FCS opponents since 1992.

* Nebraska scored 35 points in the first quarter, its highest scoring output in the first quarter since a school-record 38 points against Baylor in October of 2000. Since that game the only time NU had scored more than 21 points in the first quarter was 24 points vs. Missouri in the first quarter on Oct. 30, 2010. The only times Nebraska had scored more than 21 points in any quarter in that span were...31 points, vs. Northwestern, 2nd quarter, 2000 Alamo Bowl; 28 points vs. Idaho, 2nd quarter, 2010; 28 points, 2nd quarter vs. Western Illinois; 27 points, 4th quarter at Missouri, 2009; 27 points, 4th quarter, at Baylor, 2001; 24 points, at Minnesota, 2nd quarter; 2011; 24 points vs. Kansas State, 2nd quarter, 2007; 24 points, vs. Baylor, 2nd quarter, 2004; 24 points, vs. Arizona State, 4th quarter, 2002; 24 points, at Kansas, 4th quarter, 2001.

* Nebraska's 45 points in the first half were its most since scoring 52 points against Baylor in the first half in October of 2000. Since that contest, Nebraska's most points in the first half had been 41 points against Iowa State in the first half of a 48-14 victory in 2001.

* Nebraska's 73 points marked the most in five seasons under Head Coach Bo Pelini, bettering 56 points at Washington in 2010 and 56 points at Kansas State in 2008. It is the most points for Nebraska since scoring 73 points against Kansas State in 2007.

* Nebraska rushed for 385 yards marking its fourth straight game with at least 250 rushing yards. This marks the first time Nebraksa has reached 250 or more rushing yards in four straight games since rushing for at least 250 yards in four straight games spanning the 2002 and 2003 seasons. The last time Nebraksa rushed for more than 250 yards in the first four games of the season was in 2000, when NU rushed for at least 274 yards in each of the first seven games of the season. Nebraska is 27-3 under Head Coach Bo Pelini when rushing for at least 200 yards.

* Nebraska's 385 rushing yards marked its highest rushing total since running for 413 yards against Nevada in 2007. Nebraska ran for 347 yards last week against Arkansas State. The back-to-back 300-yard rushing games marked the first time Nebraska has accomplished that feat since against Idaho (360 yards) and Washington (383 yards) in 2010.

* Senior I-back Rex Burkhead rushed eight times for 119 yards, including a career-long 61-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to open the scoring. All of Burkhead's rushing yards came in the first half. The 61-yard run bettered Burkhead's career-long of 57 yards in the season opener against Southern Miss. Burkhead is averaging 16.9 yards on 11 rushes this season. Today's game marked the 12th, 100-yard rushing game of Burkhead's career, tying for the eighth-most in school history.

* With his 119 yards, Burkhead moved into the top 10 on the NU career rushing list. Burkhead has 2,841 career rushing yards to rank seventh in school history. Burkhead moved up from 11th at the start of the day, and passed Cory Ross (2,743), Dahrran Diedrick (2,745), Lawrence Phillips (2,777) and I.M. Hipp (2,814).

* Freshman I-back Imani Cross added the first 100-yard rushing game of his career with 12 carries for 100 yards and a TD. Cross owns 228 yards on 30 carries with two touchdowns on the season.

* Junior quarterback Taylor Martinez completed 9-of-13 passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns, including a 35-yard scoring strike to Quincy Enunwa in the first quarter and a 68-yarder to Kenny Bell in the first quarter. Martinez moved into fifth place on the Husker career passing list in today's game, passing Eric Crouch. Martinez now has 4,598 career passing yards. He has 32 career passing touchdowns to rank in a tie for sixth in school history.

* Sophomore receiver Kenny Bell had a career-long 68-yard touchdown reception, bettering his previous career long of 50 yards against Washington in 2011. Bell extended his streak of having at least one reception to 16 straight games. Bell's touchdown catch was his fourth of the season and the seventh of his career. His three TD catches last season led the Huskers.

* Junior receiver Quincy Enunwa had a 35-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, marking his first TD catch of the season and the third of his career.

* Sophomore Ameer Abdullah returned a punt 81 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. The punt return touchdown marked Nebraska's first since Eric Hagg had a school-record 95-yard punt return for a touchdown against Texas on Oct. 16, 2010. The 81-yard return for a touchdown tied for the 12th-longest return in school history, just one yard off the top 10 longest returns in school history.

* Junior defensive back Ciante Evans recorded his first career interception in the first quarter and returned the pick 29 yards for a touchdown. Evans' interception return for a touchdown was the first for Nebraska since Austin Cassidy had a 29-yard interception return at Iowa State in 2010.

* Nebraska had six scoring plays of at least 25 yards or more in today's game, with the scores coming from six different players. Nebraska has 12 scoring plays of 25 yards or more this season.

* Nebraska scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams in today's game, marking the first time Nebraska has scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams since a win at Colorado in 2009. Nebraska scored two offensive touchdowns in that game, in addition to a punt return for a touchdown by Niles Paul and an interception return for a touchdown by Matt O'Hanlon.

* The Nebraska defense forced a season-high three turnovers in today's game, bettering its previous high of two turnovers gained against Arkansas State. The Huskers' two interceptions were also a season best.

* Idaho State had a Nebraska opponent season-low 31 rushing yards in today's game, marking the fewest rushing yards by a Nebraska opponent since the 2009 Huskers surrendered 18 yards to Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game. NU held Idaho State to minus-11 rushing yards through the first three quarters.

* The Blackshirts recorded seven sacks for 35 yards lost in today's game, marking a season high. The seven sacks were the most by Nebraska since recording seven against Idaho in 2010.

* Senior defensive end Eric Martin had 2.5 sacks in today's game, marking the most for a Nebraska player since Jared Crick also had 2.5 sacks against Idaho in 2010. The last time an NU player had more than 2.5 sacks was Ndamukong Suh's 4.5 sacks against Texas in the 2009 Big 12 Championship Game.

* Senior defensive back Justin Blatchford blocked an Idaho State punt in the third quarter, marking Nebraska's first blocked punt since Eric Martin blocked a punt in the third quarter of the 2009 Big 12 Championship Game against Texas.

* The Nebraska defense limited Idaho State to 210 total yards, the fewest by a Husker opponent since Michigan State managed just 187 total yards in 2011.

* Fullback Andy Janovich started today's game and became the fifth true freshman to play for the Huskers this season.

* Today's game captains were senior offensive guard Seung Hoon Choi, senior safeties P.J. Smith and Justin Blatchford and senior defensive tackle Baker Steinkuhler.

* Nebraska completes its three-game homestand next Saturday night when the Huskers open Big Ten play against Wisconsin at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and the game will be televised nationally on ABC.
