Nebraska's Mogan Smejkal competed for the first time collegiately at the 2012 Chip-N Club Invitational after taking a redshirt season for the Huskers in 2011-12. The Columbus, Neb., native not only earned a lineup spot, but also produced her first career top-25 finish at NU's season-opening event.
Morgan took a few minutes out of her schedule to answer a few questions and provide a little more insight about her life off the course.
Favorite TV show as a kid: I preferred to watch Disney movies instead of TV. My favorites were The Lion King, The Fox and the Hound, and Pochahontas.
Favorite sports movie: My favorite sports movie would have to be Happy Gilmore.
Favorite Professional Team: I am a huge New York Yankees fan!!
Favorite meal: My favorite meal is my mom's peanut chicken with a baked potato.
Favorite vegetable: My favorite vegetable would have to be corn.
Favorite workout song: Anything by U2. They are my favorite band.
Favorite class you've taken: The best class I have taken so far in my college career would have to be EDPS 209. I have enjoyed learning how to improve my study habits and grades.
Celebrity crush: Derek Jeter
When you're not competing, you like to: I love to travel. My favorite destinations include a warm sun and the beach.
Superpower you wish you had: I wish I could be invisible.
Pregame rituals: I always make sure I have a bag of animal crackers in my golf bag for good luck.
Best friend on the team: I get along well with everyone on the team. It's hard to pick just one person but I probably spend most of my time with Cassidy (Stelzmiller).
Best athlete you've competed against: Amy Anderson from North Dakota State.
Why you chose Nebraska: I chose Nebraska because of the coaching staff and the amazing facilities Nebraska has to offer. I also feel like Nebraska's program will help me improve the most during my college career.
Best thing about Nebraska: The women's golf team and the athletic facilities.
What you want to do after college: I am still trying to figure that one out. Maybe something to do with medicine or business.
