Lincoln, Neb. - A total of 11 matches against NCAA qualifiers, including non-conference showdowns against defending National Champion UCLA, as well as Oklahoma, Kentucky and Iowa State, highlight the 2012 Nebraska volleyball schedule released on Friday.
The schedule, which includes 16 home matches, will provide numerous tests for the Huskers, as they come off a 25-5 season which included their first Big Ten Championship.
The Huskers will open the 2012 season with two matches in Lincoln against St. Louis on Aug. 24 and UCLA on Aug. 25, before traveling to Omaha for a showdown with Notre Dame at the CenturyLink Center on Aug. 26.
The Huskers will hit the road for the first time in 2012, traveling to UC-Irvine for two matches on Sept. 1. The Huskers will face Colgate before taking on UC-Irvine.
Nebraska will return home for the Ameritas Player's Challenge to take on Oklahoma on Sept. 6 at the NU Coliseum. The Huskers will face Duquesne the following day, before a match against Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 8.
NU will close the nonconference season with a match at Iowa State on Sept 15.
The Huskers will begin conference play on Sept. 19, when they travel to Penn State for a Wednesday night match, before hitting the road again on Saturday, Sept. 22 to take on Ohio State. Nebraska's first home conference match will be on Sept. 26 against Michigan State.
