Headley Named Finalist for Fan?s Choice Award

Lincoln - Nebraska freshman infielder Blake Headley has been named on one 20 finalist for the Fan's Choice Award presented by TD Ameritrade. Each of the 20 finalists will have a profile that gives fans a real sense of who the players are on and off the field. Voting opens the week of May 14 and ends Monday, June 25, 2012, with fans able to vote here - https://www.facebook.com/collegehomerunderby.

A product of Millard South High School in Omaha, Headley has played in 23 games this season for Head Coach Darin Erstad, including eight starts. He is hitting .311 on the season and has had a pair of hits in a game three times.

Headley starred on both the baseball and football fields at Millard South, as he was on the Patriots' 2009 13-0 state championship football team. He also led the Patriots to a 28-4 record and the No. 2 seed at the 2011 state baseball tournament. During the summer of 2011, Headley led his team in RBI's (67), home runs (6) and doubles (19).

The Fan's Choice Award presented by TD Ameritrade recognizes an individual who goes beyond the stat sheet and exemplifies core values such as leadership, teamwork and integrity. The player drives their teammates in the workout room and inspires their community on and off the field. The winner will be determined by fans through facebook voting and will be honored at the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby.  

Fans will not only determine the winner of "The Fan's Choice Award presented by TD Ameritrade," but they'll also be entered to win a fantastic sweepstakes when they vote.
