Mikki Moore Signed by Golden State

Lincoln -- Former Nebraska basketball standout Mikki Moore made his return to the NBA on Monday, as he was signed by the Golden State Warriors on a 10-day contract.

It was a long comeback to the NBA for the 12-year veteran, who had not played in the NBA since an injury ended his 2009-2010 season in December of 2009. This year, Moore had been with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League, where he averaged 11.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.06 blocks while shooting 55 percent from the floor before Monday's call up.

Moore, who is expected to be in uniform for the Warriors against the San Antonio Spurs tonight, has appeared in 557 career games, averaging 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game as he played for eight NBA franchises (Detroit, Boston, Atlanta, New Jersey, Utah, L.A. Clippers, Seattle and Sacramento) since reaching the league as an undrafted free agent.

A 7-foot center from Gaffney S.C., Moore was a three-year starter for the Huskers in the mid-1990s under Danny Nee, totaling 986 career points, 661 rebounds and 236 blocked shots. Moore was an honorable-mention All-Big 12 performer in 1996-97, averaging 11.7 points. 7.4 rebounds and 2.7 blocked shots per game. He ranks among Nebraska's career leaders in blocked shots (236, 2nd) and field goal percentage (55.3 percent, 7th).
