Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska senior Luke Pinkelman was honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday after being selected as the Big Ten Co-Field Athlete-of-the-Week. The accolade marks his second consecutive Big Ten indoor track and field weekly award.
Pinkelman earned the honor after placing first in the shot put with an NCAA-qualifying mark of 63-8 1/4 (19.41) at the Mark Colligan Memorial last Saturday. His shot put distance ranks first in the Big Ten and fourth in the nation. He shares the award with Iowa triple jumper Troy Doris.
Nebraska returns to action this weekend as the Huskers host the 37th annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational. The action starts on Friday, Feb. 3 at noon and on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
