Lincoln, Neb.- Nebraska seniors Ashley Miller and Luke Pinkelman were honored by the Big Ten Conference on Monday after being selected as the Big Ten Female Track and Male Field Athletes-of-the-Week. The accolade marks the first Big Ten Indoor Track and Field weekly award for both Miller and Pinkelman.
Miller was named the Women's Track Athlete-of-the-Week after placing first in the 3,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 9:21.59 at the adidas Classic last weekend. Her mark was the second-best 3,000-meter run time in Husker history and ranks first in the Big Ten and eighth in the nation this season.
Pinkelman was named the Men's Field Athlete-of-the-Week after placing first in the shot put with a mark of 63-7 1/2 (19.39) at the adidas Classic last weekend. His shot put distance ranks first in the Big Ten and fourth in the nation, and is also an NCAA-qualifying mark.
The Huskers host the Mark Colligan Memorial on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the Devaney Center Indoor Track.
