A Message from Coach Krapfl

Dear Friends,
Our only home event of the season is in the books, and I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who helped make it another successful event. A big thanks to the Chip-N Club for sponsoring the event, allowing us to put on a first-class tournament. Your support means a great deal to me and the team.

I'd like to give a special thanks to the tournament committee, which consisted of Kari Mangan, Cathy Nelson, Debbie Wilbeck, and Angie Troske. You always do fantastic work putting it all together.

A big thanks to everyone who volunteered, including rules officials, live scorers, spotters, and scoreboard personnel. It really takes everyone to run a great golf tournament, and we certainly have a wonderful group of volunteers.

Finally I'd like to thank The Country Club of Lincoln and Head Pro Dave Malone. To have a great event you need first and foremost a great golf course, and we love the Country Club. The members were so supportive and the staff, led by Master Professional Dave Malone, went above and beyond.

We also just completed our annual fundraiser, which also was held at the Country Club. A great time was had by all. The winning team of Dana Troske, Steph Kolbus, Chip Romjue, and Rusty Ford earned the trip to Pinehurst for the second consecutive year. Thanks to all the wonderful supporters who donated items for our fundraiser, the Booster Club who ran the event, and all of the participants.

We have had just over two weeks to prepare for our next tournament, the Edean Ihlanfeldt, to be contested on the prestigious Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash. We have spent our time focusing on the short game, and we're anxious to compete and put all that hard work to the test. The top four in the line-up will remain the same, with seniors Maddie Sheils and Kayla Knopik, and sophomores Steffi Neisen and Katelyn Wright. Joining them and making her first start as a Husker, will be Shelby Martinek. Shelby is a freshmen from Tempe, Ariz. You can find out more about Shelby in this month's Q&A with a Husker as part of this newsletter.

Sahalee CC will be a good test, not only because it is a great golf course, but the competition is going to be very good. We have an opportunity to make a statement, and I think the team is ready to do just that. The forecast calls for highs in the 50's and rain every day, so it is also going to test our mental toughness. I think we are ready for the challenge. You can follow us on live scoring via GolfStat.com.

Go Big Red!
