Pre-Wisconsin
Sophomore Quarterback Taylor Martinez
On what he knows about Wisconsin
"That they're 4-0 and that they're a good team."
On what he's seen from Wisconsin's defense
"We're still watching film and so far, from what I've seen, they're kind of basic. So hopefully they stay that way."
On what he means by "kind of basic"
"They don't do very much blitzing and stuff like that."
On how that affects him as a quarterback and what he thinks they're going to try and take him away or what he thinks they'll try and do
"I have no clue because every team game plans the offense different, so we'll see."
On how much the team has benefited from playing on the road
"I think it benefitted us a lot just because it was the first time away and a lot of younger players have never played on the road before. Going from that away game to this away game, I think it'll help a lot."
On the toughest part of being a quarterback on the road
"Just being able to communicate to the offensive line and the plays."
On his health through four games
"Great so far."
On the shot he took to his head
"It was another hit, pretty much. A hit is a hit. They all feel the same."
On the experience he has gained on the road the last two years
"Just to know that I've already been there before, and that I've played in that type of environment, and that I'm ready to play in this environment again. It should be fun."
On if he likes playing on the road
"Yeah, that's my favorite thing is going on the road and playing in front of loud crowds and I think we do better off of that."
On if the team is excited for Big Ten play
"Of course, I think everybody is."
On the differences between the Big Ten and the Big 12
"I don't think it's going to be much different. Football is football."
On how he keeps an even keel on a game like this
"Just focus on what you have to do in task and keep moving forward, play by play and keep on moving on."
On how much he thinks the crowd can affect the offense while going up-tempo
"No. I think it'll probably make it easier, honestly. Just because the receivers know the plays, the running backs do and I just have to communicate it to the offensive line and that's not that hard."
On how much they practice for loud crowds by using crowd noise
"Ever since the beginning of fall camp, we've had speakers out there blaring music, so we're pretty used to it. So everyday we're playing against music."
On how hard it is to stay focused on a big night game like the Wisconsin game
"Just change the channel off of ESPN or whatever. Just focus on your task at hand. Just study your plays."
On if he gets stir crazy
"Sometimes you do. But other than that, you've just got to wait and be ready."
On if he still watches CMT
"Yeah, CMT, or I just turn off the TV and listen to music."
On if he likes the underdog role, and if he feels Nebraska has something to prove
"Yeah, I think everybody on the team has something to prove. I think it should be a good game. We're ready to shock the world."
On if he thinks Nebraska's team speed can take advantage of Wisconsin's defense
"Just hopefully we can get them tired early on and keep on moving the ball. Get our running game going."
On if Wisconsin has seen any running quarterbacks like him this season
"I think UNLV, they did. As I watched them on TV, I think they did a pretty good job against UNLV."
On how much better Wisconsin is compared to Nebraska's first four opponents
"Of course, it's going to be maybe better. I'm not really sure. It's going to be a good game."
On Wisconsin's reputation of being a team that doesn't beat itself, and how Nebraska goes out and beats a team like that
"Just be consistent and just keep on doing what you've been taught to do."
