Friesen Wins Nationwide Tour Event

Springfield, Mo. – Ex-Husker Steve Friesen fired a final round 64 on Sunday to win the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr. Pepper by five strokes.

Friesen carded a 62 on Thursday before back-to-back 68s on Friday and Saturday, leading up to his 8-under-par final round. His 26-under-par total was five shots clear of runner-up Gavin Coles.

Friesen, a letterwinner for the Huskers from 1996-99, won his first career Nationwide Tour event at Highland Springs Country Club, finishing with birdies on four of the last five holes.

Friesen is now 23rd on the Nationwide Tour money list after earning a check for $112,500 at the Price Cutter Charity Championship. The top-25 on the money list at the completion of the season earn PGA Tour cards for 2012.
