Barrefors Competes at European Cup

Bressanone, Italy - Four-time All-America multi-eventer Bjorn Barrefors helped his home country of Sweden to a fifth-place finish in the European Cup Combined Events 1st League this weekend in Bressanone, Italy. Barrefors had a disappointing showing in the decathlon as he finished 26th out of 27th competitors with 6,504 points.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Barrefors was disqualified in the 110-meter hurdles, which scored him zero points in the event. If he had ran his time of 14.89 from the 2011 Big 12 Championships, he would have scored 863 points and would have moved to eighth in the final standings.

Barrefors' highlight of the meet came on day one with a personal-best leap of 24-5 ½ in the long jump. The mark bettered his previous best of 24-2 ¼.
