Nebraska's Jordan Jackson recently returned from the U.S. Under-23 Women's National Team training camp in Carson, Calif., where she was one of 24 collegiate players invited by head coach Bill Irwin.
The week-long camp took place at the Home Depot Center, home to the MLS' LA Galaxy. Jackson and the U.S. U-23 WNT scrimmaged against the U.S. U-20 WNT and also took on Los Angeles' club Ajax and the Orange County Waves of the WPSL.
A junior-to-be for the Huskers, Jackson was teammates with some of the top young talent in the nation, including three players who were on the 2010 FIFA U-20 WNT that competed in Germany's World Cup last year.
Jackson is coming off an All-Big 12 season in which she helped lead the Huskers to a 13-7-1 record and a third-place league finish. The Overland Park, Kan., native had 12 goals and nine assists to rank 19th nationally with 33 points. She was also named to the 2010 Big 12 All-Tournament Team and earned Third-Team NSCAA All-Central Region honors.
The U.S. Under-23 squad is one of five youth national teams (also U-18, U-17 and U-15). Their progress is overlooked by the U.S. Women's National Team to evaluate upcoming college-aged players who can contribute to his team in future years.
Jackson and the Huskers recently completed their annual spring season that ran from late February to mid-April, in which Nebraska went 6-2 in eight scrimmages.
