Husker Women's Tennis Team Receives Herman Award

The Nebraska women's tennis team received one of two Herman Awards at the 21st annual Student-Athlete Recognition Banquet Sunday night. The Herman Awards are given to the two teams posting the highest team grade-point averages in the athletic department. The women's tennis team holds a team GPA of 3.541. The men's golf team won the men's award with a team GPA of 3.422.

The Huskers are currently in the midst of Big 12 play, holding an overall record of 17-6 and a conference mark of 5-4. They are ranked 38th nationally as a team and received nine Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll awards last fall.

Nebraska Athletics is a national leader in both academics and service, including a nation-leading 279 Academic All-Americans. In the last calendar academic year, 686 Huskers have been named to the conference academic honor roll. In addition: 85 Huskers have recorded perfect 4.0 semesters either this past fall or last spring; 17 Huskers currently maintain 4.0 cumulative grade-point averages; and 358 Huskers earned a 3.0 GP or higher in the fall 2010 term.
