Colorado Springs, Colo.--Two members of the Nebraska rifle team will compete at the Junior Olympic Championships starting tomorrow in Colorado. Freshmen Sunny Russell and ReAnn Wilson both qualified to compete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Russell will compete in both smallbore and air rifle, while Wilson will be completing solely in air rifle.
Russell took the range as a team point-earner in 13 matches this season, gathering averages of 563.61 in smallbore and 574.43 in air rifle. Russell's performances were highlighted by a season-high score of 582 in smallbore vs. Army on Oct. 10.
Wilson contributed as a team point-earner in four matches, earning an average score of 574 in air rifle and 557 in smallbore. Her season highs for air rifle came in early 2010, where she shot a score of 577 in consecutive matches against Memphis and Army.
