Tempe, Ariz. - After producing a pair of top-20 finishes at last weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships, the Nebraska track and field team has already turned its attention to the outdoor season. The Husker hurdlers and sprinters opened NU's outdoor campaign on Saturday in Tempe, Ariz., at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

Eric Lund started his final outdoor season on the right foot with a sweep of the 110 and 400 hurdles. Lund cleared a personal best of 14.10 in the 110's, while freshman teammate Miles Ukaoma took second in 14.32. In the 400 hurdles, Lund lead four Huskers in the top six with his time of 51.21. Fellow senior Adam Dailey finished second (52.10), while Ukaoma and Jodi-Rae Blackwood tied for fifth with times of 53.64.

On the women's side, Alyssa Vierregger and Karyn LaCour each opened the season with wins. Vierregger broke her previous best of 57.28 in the 400 meters with a time of 55.43, while LaCour took the top spot in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.97. Freshmen Ellie Grooters and Ellen Dougherty finished second (1:00.79) and fourth (1:04.27), respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles.

The Huskers will be back on the road next Friday and Saturday when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational.
