Huskers Open Two-Game Road Swing at Oklahoma State
Nebraska sophomore point guard Lindsey Moore has some truly amazing accomplishments in her relatively short collegiate career. 'Zeroes' is the only starting point guard to lead her team to an undefeated regular season as a freshman in NCAA Division I Women's Basketball history. She is the only player, man or woman, to record a triple-double in Nebraska school history. Moore has only come off the floor for 10 minutes during conference games and leads the Big 12 in minutes played per game, including 39.4 mpg in league play.
She is currently averaging 17.2 points and 5.6 assists in the last five games. Looking at it another way, Moore has had a direct hand in 58.1 percent of NU's made field goals over the last five games. Lindsey will look to continue her superb play as Nebraska starts a two-game road trip at Oklahoma State this Saturday afternoon.
OSU snapped a four-game losing streak with a 62-52 win over Texas Tech in Stillwater Wednesday night. The Cowgirls have only won two of their last nine games, but own a 14-8 overall record this season (2-7 Big 12). 6-2 sophomore forward Toni Young is one of the most athletic players in the Big 12 Conference. She had a huge hand in OSU's win Wednesday night, posting a double-double with a career-high 30 points and 13 rebounds. Young leads the team in scoring (13/.7 ppg), and rebounds (8.0 rpg).
6-6 freshman center Vicky McIntyre has shown consistent improvement throughout the season. The Nebraska native (Omaha/Marian High) has started 12 game, leads the team in blocked shots (41) and is second on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg.)
After losing the Big 12's all-time career leading scorer, Andrea Riley, to graduation, OSU has filled her point guard position with a solid freshman. Tiffany Bias did not start the Texas Tech game Wednesday night, which is the only game she has not started this season. She leads the team in steals, assists and minutes per game and is third on the team in scoring (8.8 ppg). 5-5 senior guard Lakyn Garrison is one of the top three-point shooters in the league. She leads OSU in triples (42) and adds 7.9 ppg. 6-2 sophomore Lindsey Keller has started 11 games for OSU. She adds 5.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg.
Sixth-year Oklahoma State Head Coach Kurt Budke led the Cowgirls to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year. He won three junior college national championships at Trinity Valley Community College before his first Division I head coaching stop at Louisiana Tech.
Nebraska leads the all-time series with Oklahoma State 32-25 and the Huskers have won the last two games overall and three of the last four games in Stillwater. Last year Nebraska and OSU met in the first-ever meeting between top-10 ranked teams in the history of the state of Nebraska. The Huskers emerged victorious 88-67.
