Nineteen Huskers Named to Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll

The Nebraska soccer team was well represented on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the fall 2010 semester as nineteen student-athletes earned the academic award. The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who record a 3.0 GPA or higher each semester.

Nebraska had a total of 358 honorees across its 23 varsity sports, including 43 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs. That group included two members of the Husker soccer program in freshman goalkeeper Amy Swearer and former goalkeeper Jessica Mills. The Nebraska soccer team has had an average of 22 selections on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll over the past nine semesters.

Five seniors who guided the Huskers to a 13-7-1 season last fall headline the group, led by Colleen Goetzmann and Anna White's seventh consecutive awards, while Jaclyn White picked up her sixth. Michaella Fulmer, who was injured for the 2010 season, in addition to departed senior Carly Peetz, an undergraduate assistant coach for the Huskers, earned honors as well.

Katie Goetzmann also earned her seventh straight accolade to lead the junior class, followed by Alexa Cardona, Blair Slapper and Molly Thomas. The sophomore duo of Morgan Marlborough and Jordan Jackson each earned their third straight honors after being named 2010 All-Big 12 selections on the field.

In addition to Swearer, three other true freshmen were named to the team in their first semester in Hannah Dittmar, Maritza Hayes and Ashley Hick. Redshirt freshmen Bri Badje, Stacy Bartels and Emma Stevens also achieved a 3.0 GPA, with Badje and Stevens earning the honor for the third straight term.
