Nebraska Prepares for Home Matches
The No. 34 Nebraska women's tennis team is preparing to compete at the Nebraska Tennis Center for the first time this season after being on the road in Illinois last week. The Huskers will host the No. 75 Wyoming Cowgirls and the Illinois State Redbirds this weekend. The Huskers are 9-0 all-time against Wyoming and 2-0 all-time against Illinois State.

Nebraska (1-1) will kick off the weekend against Wyoming (2-0) on Friday, Feb. 4 at 5 p.m. The Cowgirls will then take on the Redbirds on Saturday at 9 a.m., and the weekend will close on Sunday, Feb. 6 with Nebraska playing Illinois State (0-1) at Noon.

Nebraska Rises in Polls
The Huskers climbed one spot to No. 33 in the ITA/Campbell rankings released Friday, Jan. 31. NU had previously maintained their preseason ranking of No. 34 during the month of January, but proved their mettle on the court in tough matches against Boise State and Northwestern last weekend. This is the third consecutive week this season in which the Huskers are ranked.

Scouting the Cowgirls
The Wyoming Cowgirls (2-0) return four starters from last year's lineup. Head Coach Katie Gyulai is 22-24 in two years at Wyoming and has helped the Cowgirls achieve a No. 75 ITA ranking as of Jan. 25. Wyoming swept both Mesa State and Northern Colorado in their opening weekend of play. The Cowgirls also feature the No. 62 doubles duo of Kim van Ginkel and Simona Synkova.

Scouting the Redbirds
The Illinois State Redbirds (0-1) have a relatively young lineup this spring that includes four newcomers. Head Coach Chris Hoover was previously an assistant coach at Creighton University and is in his 17th season of coaching the Redbirds. Illinois State was swept by No. 50 Purdue in their season opener.

Huskers go 1-1 in ITA Kick-Off Weekend
The Nebraska women's tennis team competed in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 29-30. NU posted a 1-1 record on the weekend, defeating No. 38 Boise State with a score of 5-2 before falling to No. 20 Northwestern, 7-0.

Nebraska showed their heart against Boise State after losing a close doubles point to the Broncos. The Huskers rallied and won 5 of 6 singles matches to secure their victory.

The Huskers then advanced to the regional championship to face Northwestern, who was fresh off a victory over No. 44 Harvard. Despite playing Northwestern extremely close in several matches, the Huskers fell to the Wildcats to end their bid for a spot in the ITA Team Indoor Championships.
