Huskers Add Two Golfers for 2011

Lincoln - Nebraska men's golf coach Bill Spangler has announced the addition of two golfers for next year's team.

Both natives of England, Dan Dawson and Ross Dickson will join a Husker roster that is losing five seniors.

Dan Dawson spent two years playing for Indian Hill Community College before transferring to Nebraska. The Southampton, England, native won two events during the fall season for the Warriors and placed in the top-10 in two additional tournaments.

As a freshman, Dawson was chosen as the PING All-Region Player of the Year as well as being selected to the NJCAA All-Tournament Team. In addition, he was a NJCAA First Team All-American. Dawson tied for first on two occasions, and finished tied for second at the 2010 NJCAA Division I National Championship.

"Dan is one of the top players in junior college," Nebraska Coach Bill Spangler said. "He has two years of college golf under his belt and could step right in and be a top player for us right away."

Ross Dickson comes to Nebraska with golfing experience at Richard Hale School in London, England. While there, he was the 2010 Middlesex County Boys (Under 18) Champion, 2010 Middlesex County Youths (Under 21) Champion and 2010 Crews Hill Club Champion. In addition, Dickson earned 2010 Middlesex County Men's Match Play runner-up honors.

"Ross has a fundamentally sound golf swing and I look for him to adjust to collegiate golf quite well," Nebraska Coach Bill Spangler said.
