Irving, Texas - Senior Erin Davis was honored as Co-Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. She was recognized for the first time this season and the third time in her career.
Davis was named Co-Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week after posting a 9.925 score on vault in her inaugural performance of the season, as the Huskers competed against fourth-ranked Utah last Friday. The senior earned the vault title and is currently tied for second in the nation in vault rankings. Her mark of 9.925 is the highest in the Big 12 this season in the vault event. She also recorded a 9.725 score on the floor for NU.
Additionally, Missouri's Mary Burke was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Week. She won the all-around as the Tigers competed with Iowa State on Friday. Iowa State's Jody McKellar also earned Event Specialist of the Week honors as she helped the Cyclones to a 195.250-194.550 victory over Missouri with a 9.90 score on bars, earning the senior the event title while also setting a career-high. Oklahoma's Madison Mooring earned Newcomer of the Week honors after she performed in six routines and notched a 9.95 score on the beam on Sunday.
The Huskers travel to Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, Jan. 29 to take on Alabama, Missouri and LSU at the Metroplex Challenge. The meet starts at 7:30 p.m. CST.
