Nebraska drops dual to Jayhawks

The Nebraska swimming & diving team fell to Kansas 180.5-114.5 Saturday at the Devaney Natatorium. Nebraska drops to 4-3 this season in dual competition while Kansas improved its record to 7-1. Kansas won 12 of the 16 events on the way to defeating the Huskers by 66 points.

Nebraska had a tough time gaining any sort of momentum, dropping the first six events of the day until Ariel Weech won the 50-yard freestyle event. Hayley Martin finished third in the event.

The Husker divers proved to be the high-point of the team on Saturday. The diving squad swept the 1-meter event with Payton Michaud, Kaitlan Walker and Alyson Ramsey finishing first to third, respectively. The divers also swept the 3-meter diving event with Payton Michaud winning her second diving event of the day. Alyson Ramsey finished in second-place, while Amy Herman captured third-place.

The Huskers also swept the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Hayley Martin, Ariel Weech, Lexie Halberstadt and Kelsey Grushecky finished in first-place.

Next up for the Huskers are back-to-back duals at University of Nebraska-Omaha and Iowa State on Jan 28 & 29. The Huskers finish up the season with a home dual against Missouri on Feb. 5.
