The Nebraska swimming and diving team finished third at the Missouri Invitational over the weekend in Columbia, Missouri. The Huskers accumulated 710 points, just behind Boise State with 880, and first-place Missouri, who finished with 1,241 points on the weekend.
The Huskers finished with thirty top-eight finishes over the course of the weekend, including Bailey Pon's third-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Her time of 16:57.85 was just six-seconds off of the leader. Pons also finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle event.
The divers had a productive weekend as well, with Kaitlan Walker and Payton Michaud finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3-meter diving event with scores of 281.35 and 260.45. Michaud also finished fourth in the 1-meter diving event, with a score of 266.75.
The Huskers will enjoy a break for the holidays before their next competition in Mesa, Ariz at the Citrus Classic on Jan. 7.
Note: The results for Event 39: Platform dive were posted incorrectly. Amy Herman finished 2nd on Platform with the score 261.15 and Amanda Burnett was 3rd with the score 246.10. The information is confirmed on divemeets.com at this link:
