Nebraska Postgame Notes

  • The loss dropped Nebraska to 24-23 overall in 47 all-time bowl appearances, and was just the fifth bowl loss for Nebraska in its past 15 bowl contests. NU dropped to 3-1 in bowl games under Head Coach Bo Pelini.  Nebraska is 1-2 all-time in the Holiday Bowl and 1-4 all-time against the Pac-10 in bowl games.
  • Nebraska finished 10-4 for the second straight season and missed an opportunity for its first 11-win season since 2001.
  • Junior linebacker Lavonte David had seven tackles in tonight's game. With his fifth tackle of the game in the third quarter, David set the Nebraska record for tackles in a season. David finished with 152 tackles in 2010, passing Barrett Ruud's previous record of 149 tackles in 2003.
  • Sophomore tight end Kyler Reed caught a 15-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. The TD catch was his eighth of the season, setting a Nebraska tight end record. The previous record of seven was shared by three players. The eight TD receptions also tied for fourth on the NU single-season list regardless of position. Reed finished with two catches for 31 yards in the game.
  • Senior place-kicker Alex Henery finished with one point in tonight's game and ended his career with a Nebraska record 397 career points. His 397 career points rank 12th among all players in FBS history and tied for seventh among kickers.Below are the NCAA (all divisions) accuracy records that Henery now owns. Henery also tied the NCAA record for most games kicking four-or-more field goals with six. He is the third kicker to reach that mark.
  • Senior I-back Roy Helu Jr. had 11 carries for 34 yards. Helu Jr. pushed his season rushing total to 1,245, good for 11th on the Nebraska single-season list and second among Nebraska seniors. Helu Jr. finished his Nebraska career with 3,404 rushing yards, good for fourth on Husker career charts.
  • Nebraska rushed for 91 yards in tonight's game, marking just the fourth time NU did not rushed for 200 yards in 2010. The Huskers were 10-0 when rushing for 200 yards and 0-4 when not reaching the 200-yard mark.
  • Nebraska's seven points in tonight's game were its fewest in a bowl game since being shut out 22-0 by Miami in the 1992 Orange Bowl.
  • Nebraska limited Washington quarterback Jake Locker to a 5-of-16 passing performance in tonight's game. Locker was 9-of-36 in two games against Nebraska this season, totaling just 127 passing yards. Locker was 4-of-20 for 71 yards with two interceptions in the first meeting.
  • Nebraska had 12 penalties for 102 yards in tonight's game, setting bowl records in both categories. The previous highs were 11 penalties for 92 yards in the 1995 Orange Bowl victory against Miami. 
  • Nebraska and Washington are scheduled to meet on Sept. 17, 2011 in Lincoln.
