San Antonio, Texas - Katie Keiser fired a career-best even-par 72 to lead the Nebraska women's golf team to a second-round 301 at the Alamo Invitational on Tuesday.
Keiser, a junior from Gothenburg, Neb., produced the best round of the tournament so far for the Huskers, who slipped one spot into 10th place (607) in the 14-team tournament, despite a five-stroke improvement over Sunday's opening-round 306.
Keiser's second-round represented an eight-stroke improvement over her opening round, and allowed her to climb 15 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 43rd through 36 holes with a 152.
Fellow junior Madeleine Sheils also made a move up the leaderboard for the Huskers on Monday, climbing 12 spots into a tie for 33rd with a one-over-par 73 on the 6,302-yard layout of the Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
Sheils was joined in a tie for 33rd (151) with Husker freshman Katelyn Wright, who produced her second straight strong round with a two-over 74. Wright is playing as an individual outside the NU lineup in San Antonio.
Junior Kayla Knopik added a 77 for the second straight round to move into a tie for 50th (154), while freshman Steffi Neisen fell in the individual standings into a tie for 45th (153) with a second-round 79. Neisen entered the second round in a tie for ninth after an opening-round 74 on Sunday.
