Huskers Go Through Situational Walk Through Saturday

The Nebraska football team capped off its third week off fall practice with a 75-minute situational walk through on the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields on Saturday morning. The Huskers practiced in shorts and t-shirts as they prepare to enter their first game week of the season. Head coach Bo Pelini said after three weeks of practice, the Huskers needed a chance to get their legs back under them before heading into Monday's game preparation.

"We didn't practice today, we had more of a situational walk through," Pelini said.  "I thought we had some situations that we had to cover and it gives our guys legs a break and a good weekend to get their legs back, and hit the ground running on Monday to get ready for Western Kentucky."

With fall camp coming to a close on Saturday, Pelini said he has been impressed with the physicality his team has shown throughout the first weeks of August.

"I thought it was real physical," Pelini said. "I thought our guys practiced hard. I thought we got a lot of work done. Guys played hard. I thought overall it was a pretty consistent effort. I thought it was good competition."

Pelini and the Cornhuskers will now turn their attention to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, something the players have been looking forward to according to the head coach.

"You get to this point where guys are sick of hitting each other. They are ready to play some football and see where we are."The Huskers will take Sunday off before entering game preparations on Monday. The Huskers kick off the season on Sept. 4 against Western Kentucky at 6 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
