The Huskers are 9-5-2 all-time in home openers, including a 7-2-2 mark in their last 11. Nebraska started the 2009 home season with a 7-1 victory over Lamar.

This week's adidas Husker Classic will kick off a 10-game home schedule. The Big Red will play five matches at the Nebraska Soccer Field in the month of September.

Huskers Put Unbeaten Home Streak on the Line
The Huskers were 9-0-2 at the Nebraska Soccer Field last season and have not been defeated at home since Oct. 17, 2008. The 2009 home record was the best since the 2001 Huskers went 12-0-0 at the Abbott Sports Complex. Since moving on campus in 2005, Nebraska has won 73 percent (38-11-10) of its home matches. Last season's home success included a 2-1 upset of No. 14 Texas A&M, while the two ties came against Arizona State and Baylor. The Huskers scored at least two goals in 9-of-11 home matches.

Scouting Loyola Chicago
The Ramblers (0-2-0) have fell in their first two matches of the season as they dropped a pair of home contests to Illinois (2-0) and Idaho State (2-1) last weekend. Loyola Chicago was 5-14-3 last season and returns seven starters from that squad. Included in the returnees are a pair of All-Horizon League Second Team selections - Laura Trevillian and Katie Groesch. Trevillian earned the conference accolade in 2008 when she scored 22 points (10 goals, 2 assists), a number that the senior saw drop to six (2 goals, 2 assists) in 2009. A two-time second-team all-conference pick, Groesch is one of the best goalkeepers in the Horizon League. The junior posted seven shutouts with a 1.51 goals-allowed average last season. Although the Ramblers only won five matches in 2009, they nearly knocked off then-No. 17 Texas A&M in College Station, losing a 2-1 overtime battle.

Head Coach Frank Mateus (National Louis, 1991) is in his sixth season at Loyola Chicago and holds a 55-51-8 record. He led the Ramblers to back-to-back Horizon League Tournament championships in 2006 and 2007 and a share of the regular-season title in 2008. The Ramblers last NCAA Tournament appearance came in 2007 with the automatic bid from their second straight league tournament title.

Husker History Against the Ramblers
The Huskers are 3-0-0 all-time against Loyola Chicago. The most recent meeting occurred on Oct. 25, 2006 in Lincoln, a 3-2 come-from-behind victory. Nebraska set the single-game school record with 11 goals against the Ramblers on Sept. 25, 1998, a mark that has since been tied twice. The first-ever Husker-Rambler match-up was a 4-2 NU win on Sept. 4, 1995. All three games in the series have taken place in Lincoln.

Scouting Loyola Maryland
The Greyhounds (1-0-0) won their season opener last weekend against Towson, 3-2, behind a pair of goals from forward Nichole Schiro. The sophomore led the team in scoring last season with nine goals and six assists (24 points) to earn MAAC All-Rookie Team honors. Her efforts led Loyola Maryland to a solid 15-5-3 season in which it claimed the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference reguar-season and tournament championships. The Greyhounds were eliminated in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by West Virginia.

In addition to Schiro, Loyola Maryland returns six other starters. Among those returnees is senior Kelly Thomas, the team's 2009 assist leader with eight. The Greyhounds lost their primary starting goalkeeper to graduation, but return an experienced sophomore in Danielle Ippolito. As a freshman, Ippolito worked her way into the lineup to earn five starts (2-2-1). She was named to the MAAC Championship All-Tournament Team after tallying 11 saves and giving up only four goals in three games.

Head Coach Katherine Remy Vettori (Duke, 1996) is in her third season at Loyola Maryland and has a successful 26-11-7 record. She was named the 2009 MAAC Coach of the Year after leading the Greyhounds to the conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. In her first season, Vettori took Loyola Maryland to the regular season conference title (7-0-2) despite starting the year winless (0-5-2) through seven matches. As a player, Vettori was a two-time all-conference selection at Duke University.

Husker History Against the Greyhounds
Nebraska and Loyola Maryland have never met on the soccer field and the Huskers have never played any opponent from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Huskers Return Explosive Offense in 2010
Nebraska returns nine starters off last season's team that went 11-5-4 overall and finished fourth in the Big 12 Conference (5-3-2). The Huskers ranked third in the NCAA with 3.10 goals per game in 2009, the highest scoring average by a Nebraska team since 2000 (4.0). The scoring effort was led by returning 2009 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Morgan Marlborough, a sophomore forward from Lee's Summit, Mo. Nebraska also brings back two-time All-Big 12 selection Molly Thomas, a junior midfielder/forward from Omaha, Neb. As underclassmen in 2009, the duo combined for 29 of the team's 63 goals. In all, the Huskers return 70 percent of its goals (43-of-62) from last season.
