Huskers Invite Former Players to Alumni Weekend

The Nebraska softball program is inviting all former players to attend the Husker Softball Alumni Weekend, Oct. 1-3, to help celebrate the retirement of Peaches James' jersey.

The weekend begins on Friday, Oct. 1 when alumni can watch the end of practice and meet the current team. Alumni can then tour Bowlin Stadium before participating in a slow-pitch softball game at 6:30 p.m. and a social gathering at 8 p.m.

Saturday is the highlight of the weekend. Alumni will have the chance to tour other athletic facilities in the morning before heading to Bowlin Stadium for a pre-game tailgate. Alumni will then be introduced prior to the first game of Nebraska's doubleheader with a collection of all-stars from the National Pro Fastpitch league. Prior to the start of the second game, James' jersey will officially be retired in an on-field ceremony. Alumni are then invited to attend a retirement banquet in James' honor at 6:30 p.m. for $25 per person.

On Sunday, an alumni golf outing is planned (based on interest) to wrap up the weekend.
