"The Spangler, 2010" Set for Sept. 24 at ArborLinks Golf Course

The sixth annual "The Spangler, 2010" will be held Sept. 24 at ArborLinks Golf Course in Nebraska City. "The Spangler" is a special event benefiting the Dick Spangler Scholarship Fund. The Dick Spangler Scholarship, honoring Nebraska coach Bill Spangler's late father, Dick, is awarded annualy to a Nebraska golfer who made significant contributions to the men's golf program through his attitude, effort and team spirit.

This year's Dick Spangler Scholarship was awarded to sophomore Jordan Reinertson. The Gibbon, Neb., native redshirted in his first year in the program and played in two tournaments in 2009-10, recording a 75.83 stroke average. Reinertson has been a member of the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll all four semesters of his Husker career, including three semesters with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Reinertson is a business administration major.

The entry fee per player for "The Spangler" is $190.00, and that covers golf, cart and range, all food and drink and cigars.
