Griesch's The Word - July 30

It's been a pretty productive summer for me in the Nebraska Media Relations Office and I've also had time to take a little time off. I'm taking my last break before the fall semester hits this coming weekend when I head to Twins Territory in Minnesota.

After coaching my son Jackson's T-ball game on Saturday morning, my family and I will be driving to Minneapolis to visit some friends. I will be making my first trip to Target Field to watch Joe Mauer and your defending American League Central Division Champion Minnesota Twins take on the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon.

I strategically scheduled my Minnesota trip to catch Husker All-American Kelsey Griffin and the Connecticut Sun in action against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday night at the Target Center. I'm sure I'll be far from the only Husker fan in downtown Minneapolis on Tuesday night. In fact, Kelsey will have plenty of family and friends from Minnesota and Alaska in the house.

The Fastbreakers Nebraska Women's Basketball Booster Club also planned a bus trip to the Twin Cities to support Kelsey. How cool is that?

Once a Husker - always a Husker.

For all you fans chomping at the bit for a 2010-11 basketball schedule, the Big 12 is planning to announce its tentative conference-wide schedule early next week. That schedule is not expected to include Big 12 network television games on Fox Sports Net, or any other TV games, so it could still have a few changes between the announcement and the start of the season.

Go Big Red!
