Radevica Wins European Championship

Lincoln ? Former Husker and three-time NCAA triple jump champion Ineta Radevica won the long jump on Wednesday, July 28 at the European Athletic Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Not only did Radevica set a personal best with her winning jump of 22-8 1/2, the mark also broke the Latvian national record.

A two-time Olympian for Latvia at the Athens and Beijing Games, Radevica competed for the Huskers during the 2003 and 2004 seasons after transferring from Wichita State. She still holds the NU school record in the indoor and outdoor triple jump with leaps of 45-0 1/4 and 46-4, respectively, with her mark in the triple jump also standing as the Big 12 record.

During her two seasons at Nebraska, Radevica was a four-time All-American in both the long jump and triple jump, while she finished no lower than fifth in either event at the NCAA Championships. After winning the national title in the indoor triple in 2003, she swept the indoor and outdoor titles in 2004. Radevica also added eight Big 12 titles, as she swept the horizontal jumps both indoors and outdoors in 2003 and 2004.
