Former Husker swimming standout Mariah Hutchinson recently concluded competition in the CSRVIII 2010 Summer LC Speedo Championships in Columbia, Mo.

In the event, Hutchinson finished first in both the 100- and 200-meter butterfly events.

Hutchinson set a personal best time in the 200-meter butterfly en route to winning the event with a time of 2:16.52.

The 100-meter butterfly was won with a time of 1:02.07. Second place clocked in a time of 1:02.41

Hutchinson also competed in the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyles and was able to finish in the top eight in each of those events.

The Summer Sectional meet is used as a tune up to the U.S. National Competition held August 3-8 in Irvine, Calif., where Hutchinson will also be competing. In the Sectional, swimmers from Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri among others compete to qualify for their trip to the U.S. National Competition.

Hutchinson also plans to continue her swimming career and will aim to compete at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials held in Omaha.
