Edwards Set for All-America Game

Incoming freshman Taylor Edwards was one of 30 players nationally selected to play in the 2010 Under Armour All-America softball game. The game was played on Tuesday but will air on ESPNU on Saturday, July 24 at 6 p.m. (Central).

Edwards is making her third consecutive appearance in the three-year old event, which boasts 30 of the top high school players in the country as chosen by a team of experts at ESPN Rise. Edwards will play for Team Rally in Tuesday’s game.

Edwards, the 2009 EA Sports National Junior of the Year, hit .452 this past spring in her final season at Vista Murrieta (Calif.) High School. She added nine home runs and 28 RBIs with teams continually pitching around her, as Edwards posted a .620 on-base percentage.

Last month, Edwards was one of six finalists for 2010 California Player-of-the-Year honor, as she was chosen as a first-team All-California selection for the second straight season. Edwards’ twin sister Tatum was a second-team All-California selection after batting .511 with eight homers and 30 RBIs as a senior, including an 11-3 record in the circle with a 0.67 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 83.0 innings.
