Nebraska Selected to Host 2012 NCAA Volleyball Regional

Lincoln - The University of Nebraska has been selected as one of four NCAA Volleyball Regional hosts in 2012. The announcement came Friday from the NCAA Division I Championship and Competition Cabinet. The Qwest Center in Omaha will host the event for the third time, marking the fifth time since 2005 that the facility will host either an NCAA regional or national championship in volleyball.

In 2012, Nebraska will host a regional for the 16th time in program history and the fourth since the NCAA went to pre-determined sites in 2003. Since the NCAA went to pre-determined sites, NU has hosted regionals in 2003 (NU Coliseum), 2005 (Qwest Center Omaha) and 2009 (Qwest Center Omaha).

Nebraska will join Texas, California, and Purdue as regional sites in 2012 while the NCAA Championship will take place in Louisville, Ky. In addition, the national championship sites were chosen for 2013 (Seattle, Wash.) and 2014 (Oklahoma City, Okla.). This year's national championship will also take place in the Midwest, as the Sprint Center in Kansas City will host this December. Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster.com and by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.
