Schulze Signs Letter of Intent with Huskers

Lincoln, Neb.---Nebraska men's tennis head coach Kerry McDermott announced on Thursday, June 24, that Robert Schulze, a powerful player out of Germany has signed his letter of intent to play for the Huskers this upcoming season. Schulze will join Sebastian Florcyzk as the second German signed by NU for next season.

Schulze joins the Huskers after a stellar amateur career in Germany, where he vaulted himself to No. 2 in the under-16 rankings before being set back by an injury. Assistant coach Joerg Barthel is excited about the potential that Schulze brings to the Huskers, and looks forward to his development at the collegiate ranks.

"Robert has been one of the biggest talents in Germany the past couple of years," Barthel said. "He will have an immediate impact on the line up next year, and we are excited to have such a talented player choose to come play at Nebraska. He is a tall right-handed player who uses his serve and big game well. He will be a great fit for hardcourts in the US and will help this team reach it's goals in the future."
 
Schulze becomes the third player to sign a letter of intent with the Huskers after Tom Blackwell, a Ponte Verda, Fla., native, signed his last November, along with Florcyzk. All three players will be eligible for the start of fall play which begins in September.
