The booster organization for the Nebraska basketball team, the Rebounders Club has announced that spots remain available for fans to join the field for the fourth annual Doc Sadler Golf Classic. The golf event will be held at Hillcrest Country Club for the third straight year.
The event starts at 11 a.m. on June 25, and is open to Rebounders Club members ($160 per person) and non-Rebounders Club members ($200 per person). The format for the day will be a four-man Husker Scramble with a shotgun start. Individual hole sponsorship opportunities are also available for local companies. Fans can download a registration form by logging on at www.docsadlergolfclassic.com or contact Roger Brown at (402) 564-5224 or Paul Garnett at (402) 228-3413 to find out more about the event and for more information on the Rebounders Club.
Fans can also enjoy the atmosphere with the former players and athletic department staff at an auction with proceeds helping support the men's basketball program. The auction will start at approximately 5 p.m., and will be followed by a steak dinner at 6 p.m. The cost is $45 per person for the dinner for fans who do not golf.
Following up on the first three successful years of the golf event and auction will be difficult, but Garnett, the Rebounders Club president, said he believes the best is still yet to come for this event.
"Over the past few years, this golf outing has gained momentum and really become an event, especially for our former players," Garnett said. "It's a fun day full of golf and camaradiere for everyone, and it's a great way for Husker fans to show their support for the program."
