Coatman, Wyatt Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

Lincoln - Nebraska men's golfers Mike Coatman and Andrew Wyatt each claimed first-team academic All-Big 12 honors, the Big 12 Conference announced on Tuesday.

Wyatt, a junior finance major, carried a 3.42 GPA and has appeared in all 33 rounds for the Big Red this season. Wyatt is second on the team with a 73.73 stroke average and three top-five individual finishes. Last year, Wyatt earned a spot on the academic All-Big 12 second team.

Coatman, a junior sociology major, made his first career appearance on the list. The Lincoln Southwest product carried a 3.40 GPA and has also appeared in all 33 rounds for the Huskers this year. Coatman holds a 74.79 stroke average and owns four top-10 finishes on the year.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the men had 17 first-team recipients and 12 student-athletes on the second team.  First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his/her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
