Omaha - Nebraska freshman women's golfer Erin Sharpee claimed a second-place finish at the 36-hole Creighton Golf Classic Tuesday.
Sharpee, a native of Green Bay, Wis., followed up a first-round 78 on Monday with a second-round 77 on Tuesday on the 5,950-yard, par-71 layout in Omaha. Sharpee's two-round score of 155 trailed North Dakota State's Amy Anderson in the individual standings by six strokes. Anderson took medalist honors with a 149 (74-75). Sharpee finished five strokes ahead of Northern Iowa's Blair Bonner, who took third at 160.
Husker sophomore Carolyn Schorgl added a 19th-place finish in the 48-player field. Schorgl managed rounds of 84 and 90 to finish at 174.
Sharpee and Schorgl were the only two Huskers to compete in the Creighton Golf Classic, as Nebraska did not enter a full team in the event. Northern Iowa won the team title in the seven-team field with a two-round total of 644, while the hosts from Creighton finished second at 656.
